A Beach Escape
A drink in what I’ll call the “beachy breeze” family of cocktails. Here is a rundown:
- Cape Cod: Vodka and Cranberry
- Madras: Vodka, Cranberry Juice, Orange Juice
- Sea Breeze: Vodka, Cran, Grapefruit Juice
- Sex on the Beach: Vodka, Peach Schnapps, Chambord, Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice
This is good. The pineapple/cranberry is an interesting combination. The cran takes the sharp edges of sweetness off the pineapple juice. As far as refreshing cocktails go, this is an easy one to make, and it hits the spot. Oh, and the vodka? It just boozes things up and tastes like nothing, as vodka always does.

A Berry Bliss
There was a mix-up in my farmer’s market delivery this week. I ordered some berries, got some berries in my regular produce box, and then some extra berries were accidentally thrown in there. I’m drowning in berries. (What a way to go!)
So, if I’m smart, I’ll be featuring cocktails using berries for the next week or so.
This is really tasty. There are lots of ingredients in this cocktail, but I really only taste strawberry. It’s not too sweet or tart, just bubbly, boozy strawberries.
Note: The recipe calls for sparkling rosé. I had prosecco on hand, so that is what I used.

A Trip to the '80s
A simple, sweet cocktail for a Friday night. Easy to mix — just two ounces of each vodka and Kahlua, then soda to top. Mixed in the glass. No garnish is necessary, but these are normally sipped through a straw, so a straw can be the garnish.
This is a cocktail from the 1980s, and it has “disco drink” written all over it. A caffeinated buzz to keep you on the dance floor.
It’s very yummy. I really like coffee liqueur, but it’s a little sweet for me. After I had made some room in the glass, I cut it with a little more soda. Now it is perfect. I suppose I could have had it right from the start if I had used a bigger glass.
The mint is from my chocolate mint plant…it REALLY smells and tastes like chocolate mint. Like an after-dinner Andes mint. The kind you get with your check at a restaurant.
